OUR INGREDIENTS

At Livia’s we are committed to using only real naturally sourced ingredients in every product and every recipe. We are proud of our ingredients list and will never use anything that isn't naturally found in food.

Natural foods are foods that have been unaltered and are just what they would be like naturally. Unlike processed foods that have been manipulated from their natural state biologically, chemically or mechanically.

Using natural plant-based ingredients has amazing health benefits as well as helping to protect our planet.

CACAO & COCOA

We use cacao and cocoa in its natural form without any chemical intervention. We love the rich deep chocolatey flavour it gives to a recipe.

COCONUT OIL

Rich in natural saturated fats which increases good cholesterol. We use it in baking to replace butter to bind ingredients together.

DATES

An excellent source of dietary fibre and can be easily digested allowing our bodies to make full use of their goodness. The dates we use are high quality Deglet Nour Dates. We use them in recipes as a natural sweetener but also to bind ingredients.

REAL ORANGE

We use natural orange oil and zest in our Chocolate Orange Million Squares. It’s completely pure and natural and gives the most delicious zingy taste to this bestselling treat!

GLUTEN-FREE OATS

A natural source of slow-releasing carbohydrates to give you energy. Oats are also rich in fibre and full of antioxidants to keep the heart healthy!

FLAXSEED

High in fibre and rich in Omega-3, Flaxseed can help with digestion and reduce inflammation. It has a delicious nutty flavour and we use it to add moisture to a recipe.

ALMONDS

Composed of monounsaturated fats AKA ‘healthy fats’, almonds are known for decreasing high levels of ‘bad cholesterol’ in the body . They are also high in fibre, rich in potassium, low in sugar and high in protein!

HAZLENUTS

Naturally low in sugar and high in protein. We blend Hazelnuts to create a velvety delicious texture for Dunx Dip!

COCONUT SUGAR

Derived from the flower buds of coconut trees, it has minimal effect on blood sugar levels. It’s rich in potassium, magnesium, zinc and B vitamins. Coconut sugar is used as a replacement for brown sugar and gives a rich caramel flavour in recipes.

RICE FLOUR

Rice flour is an excellent source of fibre. We love using it as a natural gluten-free replacement for flour in cakes and muffins.

PEANUTS

A natural source of protein and can be blended into peanut butter to replace dairy butter in baking. We also use pure natural peanuts in our Dunx Dips!

PURE MAPLE SYRUP

Maple syrup is derived from the sugary sap from the maple tree. It tastes delicious and brings out the flavour of many other ingredients in a recipe.

Plastic, we hear you say. Plastic, plastic. This is a complicated story, but we will try and keep it brief. The bottom line is, plastic is an amazing material. What isn’t so amazing is how it’s produced and where it is ending up.

Using fit-for-purpose food packaging helps to minimise waste and it’s important we work together to build a circular economy for plastics. The circular economy means ditching needless plastic and just using what’s essential, NEVER littering it and making sure you can recycle it again and again.

The number one function of packaging is to protect the contents inside. Our mission is to find the best packaging solutions to protect our products whilst minimising waste and making our packaging easier to recycle at home.

We were one of the first challenger food brands to switch to a recyclable ready food grade film back in 2018. A lot of food brands use paper film that looks recyclable but is in fact backed with a layer of plastic film which isn’t recyclable so watch out for this!

Plant-based food can form a significant part of a balanced diet, one that is good for both you and the planet. Everywhere you look there’s another piece of evidence pointing us in that direction.

Plants take a lot less land, water and carbon to raise than animal-based products. We’re rapidly running out of the first two and producing way too much of the third, so a massive positive step each and every one of us can take is to eat more plant-based food.

If there’s one thing we can’t stand in our kitchen it’s waste. The harsh reality is that 8% of global carbon emissions come from needless food waste. That’s why we’re proud to say that currently none of our delicious goodies get wasted. Every single one gets sold, sampled or given away. And we don’t just stop there. We are working with our factory partners to monitor energy and water in order to find ways to reduce those, as that directly takes carbon out of our footprint. In addition, we’re looking for ways to drive waste out as another key way to avoid needless carbon emissions.

In 2020 we switched our plastic Million Square trays for recyclable uncoated cardboard trays, cutting our annual use of plastic by over 3 tonnes! We have reduced the amount of plastic in our Million Square sharing packs by 84%.
