In 1905, Thomas Fentiman, an iron puddle from Cleckheaton, England, was approached by a fellow merchant for a loan. A deal was struck and a recipe for botanically produced ginger beer was provided as collateral. The loan was never repaid, so Thomas became the owner of the unique recipe. Thomas began using the recipe and brewing botanically-brewed ginger beer, which he delivered door-to-door using a horse and cart for transport. Their Ginger beer was stored in stone pots affectionately known as Gray Hens.
Fearless, Thomas's faithful family dog, was the winner of the 1933 and 1934 Crufts Obedience Class. Thomas was so proud of his achievement that he not only used his portrait on his bottles, but his image adorned all Fentimans factories. Fearless proudly guards every bottle of Fentimans to this day.The world has changed a lot in the last 100 years since Thomas Fentiman founded the company. The Fentimans had to adapt to meet the demands of an ever-changing world. Changes in the way people shop have made our door-to-door deliveries open up for sale online and in stores, bars and restaurants.
